what goes with teal shorts?

How to style your teal shorts?

Teal is one of the colors that is gaining popularity in men’s fashion, particularly in its darker tints. And while it may be a popular option in formal wear, it may not be the easiest to style when it comes to teal shorts.

Anyway, before we get into that, did you know the hue is cyan-green, and it gets its name from a bird called the Eurasian teal, which has a similar colored stripe on its head. The phrase is often used informally to refer to all cyan colors. It can be formed by blending cyan with a green foundation or darkening it with black or grey as needed.

However, getting back to styling, here is a list of colors and pieces that go best with teal shorts and how to style them properly.

1. Teal Shorts with White T-Shirt

A solid white t-shirt paired with a pair of teal shorts can be a great combination as white goes with almost all other colors. And given we go with dark teal shorts that end right about the knee could be a comforting contrast for the eyes. And as teal is in dark you could add on a pair of white ankle-length sneakers to balance the contrast.

2. Teal Shorts with Black Polo

Talking about dark colors, there is no hard and fast rule against pairing two dark colors together. Pair your dark teal shorts with a soli black polo. Complete the look with a pair of ankle-length black casual shoes with a white sole. Accessorize with a black watch or fitness band.

3. Teal Shorts with Grey T-Shirt

A solid grey t-shirt can be paired with a pair of dark teal shorts. Grey comes in different shades and it is the lighter ones that are considered to be neutral so let us go with a mid-grey t-shirt. Put on a pair of ankle-length white canvas shoes along with regular-length white socks. Add on a white baseball cap to accessorize and that shall do it.

4. Teal Shorts with Faded Dark Blue Checked Shirt

This time let us go ahead with a shirt rather than a t-shirt. So start by pairing a faded dark blue and white checked shirt with a pair of dark teal shorts. Go for checks that are small as they can help you make it seem like a design from afar. And when you look at it up close it could be a different look. Add on a pair of ankle-length white casual shoes along with a pair of black wayfarers to complete the look.

5. Teal Shorts with Mint Green Shirt

Now let us go for a shirt that fully complements teal shorts. Pair a solid mint green full-sleeve shirt with those dark teal shorts. And as teal has a touch of green, this lighter shade fits right in. Now all you need to do is fold your sleeves up until your elbows and put on a pair of white ankle-length casual shoes.

6. Teal Shorts with Printed Light Blue Shirt

Solids and checks have been great but I guess it is time to talk about patterns now. So since teal isn’t the most common color let us start with something safer. Pair light teal shorts with a light blue shirt that has a minimalistic print in navy blue over it. This is because even if you have the print in the wrong color it isn’t easily noticeable. And the light teal shade makes it easier for the light blue to sink in. These light colors make quite the beach look so go for a half sleeve shirt and black thong sandals.

7. Teal Shorts with Striped T-Shirt

Another beach look that you can create with the same shade of teal is by pairing it with a striped t-shirt. Go for light teal shorts with folded rims and pair them with a light grey and white striped t-shirt. Keep the stripes thin to create a beachy vibe and put on a pair of white thong sandals to complete the look.

8. Teal Shorts with Striped T-Shirt & White Shirt

Now you can create another look with the help of that same striped t-shirt. All you need to do is change your shorts to a dark teal one and add on a solid half sleeve white shirt. Leave the buttons loose so that your t-shirt has sufficient room to breathe and both your t-shirt and shirt can set in with your teal shorts. If you are out on a sunny day, you could accessorize with a tan hat and tan sandals.

9. Teal Shorts & T-Shirt

Tie and dye is quite the popular print nowadays so in case you don’t prefer the typical patterns you could go for this look. A set of shorts and a t-shirt that has a color block tie and dye pattern in dark teal and white blending in the middle of both articles. Add on a pair of slide-on slippers in white and this could be a cool indoor look.

10. Teal Shorts with Off-White Shirt

Now, this happens to be my favorite look. It can be created using an oversized off-white shirt paired with faded dark teal shorts. Go for shorts that end right above the knees and fold the sleeves of your shirt. The off-white hue helps create a somber look. Put on a pair of beige slide-on sandals to complete the look. And while it looks all great there is so much more than you can do with this color combination. So if you like this Indian clothing article kurta, you could get one of those in off-white. It could help you create a nice rustic look when you go for a short kurta paired with faded dark teal shorts. Fold in the sleeves of the kurta and it should help you create a similar look to that of the off-white shirt. However, go with a short kurta as it can help you get an authentic rustic look due to the fabric used in making them.

That was pretty much it, all that you needed to know about styling your teal shorts. Just remember that there is no way you won’t be able to use this color for different types of attires; the only thing you need to make it happen is to be on top of your color combination game. You can pair dark teal with both dark and light colors but to be on a safer side go with lighter color when you have light teal.
